Otley RUFC will step out for their new season with virtually a whole new team.

The club has so far signed 11 new players and most will be on view at Cross Green on Saturday when Otley take on Yorkshire rivals Wakefield in a friendly which starts at 2 pm.

Otley are negotiating to get the release of their former winger Mark Kirkby from Bedford to help spearhead their challenge in Jewson One.

Newcomers to the Cross Green club include prop Ronnie Kelly from Harrogate, scrum-half Jeremy Tiffen from Morley, second rower Peter Curtis from Newbury, back row man Jonathan Scurr from Wakefield, scrum-half Peter Wright from Middlesbrough, centre or winger Tom Laurieston from Middlesbrough, full-back Max Gordon from Edinburgh Academicals, scrum-half Charles Du Pre a former Otloey junior from Leeds, hooker Rob Lamb from Leed, prop Dean Hardcastle from Wakefield and winger Rob Smith from Preston Grasshoppers.

Otley start their league programme on Saturday, August 28, with a trip to Bracknell.

The league games for September are at home to Fylde on Septmber 4, at Reading on September 11, at home to Preston Grasshoppers on September 18 and at Camberley on September 25.

In the Yorkshire Cup Otley have been drawn at home to Wharfedale on Wednesday, April 12.

The annual game for the Tim Bucknall Trophy will be played between Otley Saracens and Ilkley at Cross Green on Wednesday, September 1.

The club has a full programme for the first team, Saracens, Tongans and Viscounts as well as the Colts.
