THE best of two drawn games over the Bank Holiday weekend has seen Steeton establish a 12 points lead at the top of the Airedale and Wharfedale League table above Burley.

Young bowler David Wigley claimed a hat-trick for Rawdon but it was not enough to stop Hall Park from notching 224-7 with Neil Cowgill hitting 64, Robert Murphy 50 and Mark Hobson 48.

Rawdon fell for 111 in reply as West Indian Kenrick Marshball ripped the heart out of their innings with a return of 7-35.

A century stand for the seventh wicket - a club record - from David Standring (71 no) and Bruce Rainford (38) failed to save Adel from defeat at the hands of North Leeds who won by three wickets with Mark Singleton (28) and Andrew Stevens (32) forcing victory.

Burley defeated Beckwithshaw by six wickets with openers Andrew Arundell (61) and Duncan Hurd (68) in superb form.

They shared a stand of 105 and Richard Brook carried on the good work with a knock of 32 after brother Nick had continued his prolific form with the ball taking another six wickets.

Guiseley drifted to the foot of the table after being shot out for a mere 69 as Knaresborough's Mal Brittain took 7-35.

Knaresborough also had a batting star in John Corcoran who hammered 6 fours and 4 sixes in a fine 95 which was hit off 85 balls.

He was looking for another six to complete his century when he was caught with just one ball of the innings remaining.
