Nichola White has earned a place at Britain's table tennis academy.

Nichola, who trains at Oakbank School with the Bradford Table Tennis Development Scheme, will study full time at the boarding school from September, and will return home at weekends.

She joined the development scheme when she was eight years of age and soon showed a great deal of promise winning the City Stars of Tomorrow Championship.

She became the youngest player to represent Bradford City in the Yorkshire League when she was just eight years of age and when she was nine won the West Yorkshire Schools Championship.

At 10 years of age she represented English Schools at international level, helping them to a gold medal.

The following year she was selected to play for England Under-12s in France and won silver.

Coach Hans Soova said: "It has been refreshing to coach a young player with a good attitude who works hard to improve."
