Guiseley contest their third cup final of the season when they take on Ilkley in the Airedale and Wharfedale League's Ian Chappell Third Teams Cup final at Collingham on Bank Holiday Monday, August 30th. The match which starts at 1.30 pm will be sponsored by RBR Insurance of Ilkley.

To reach the final the teams had to battle their way through 12 league games - played in two groups - with the winners and runners-up playing off in semi-finals.

Guiseley played Burley in the semi-finals coming through a two-nighter by just three runs in a very tight game. Guiseley made 133 with Phil Thomas making 43 and skipper Andy Swallow 38. Burley were 80-2 when rain stopped play but when they returned the following night they found Lincoln Wray in top form and he took 4-22 to secure victory.

In the other semi-final Ilkley made 159-7 with J Varley making 60 and Craig Rackham 31. Knaresborough were restricted to 145-8 as M Iqbal took 4-66.

WHAT a triumph it was for Horsforth's Under-17 side which won the Airedale Junior Cricket League's Under-17 play-off on Sunday to lift the championship title.

In what has largely been a season of gloom and doom for the Horsforth club the juniors have shone like a beacon and Harry McCullow's side deservedly carried off the title.

It was a tribute to the determination of all concerned at Horsforth to triumph over adversity, the skill of the boys and the dedication of their manager Harry McCullow in his first season in the job.

Horsforth, who were unbeaten in league games all season in winning the East section, batted first and made 124-3 with an excellent contribution of 64 not out from M Taylor.

West Champions Otley were then restricted to 93-5 giving Horsforth a 31 runs win.

The league programmes are all wrapped up now with only the cup finals to complete.
