IT goes without saying that I was very disappointed with the result of the game at Wigan.

It was a very defensive game, one that could have easily finished 0-0 and it was only the goals of Andy Farrell that kept Wigan in front for a long time.

It was a tremendous piece of skill by Gary Connolly to steal the ball in the tackle.

It was the right type of conditions in which to attempt that but it was also the sort of conditions that could have resulted in him spilling the ball.

Like I said it was disappointing but it was probably a good time to lose, if there is a good time to lose.

It has given us the chance to focus on what we have to do for the rest of the season and we will be better for it.

We know what we have to do to finish at the top of the table and that is what we will be concentrating on.

We will have an opportunity against Sheffield Eagles to get back on track and that is what we intend to do.

The one downside of the game at Central Park was the refereeing of Stuart Cummings. I don't like to put too much blame on referees but I though that he had a poor game. Not just for the Bulls but for both sides.

I think that it spoils things for the supporters and it doesn't give them value for money. What we need is consistency from refs and then we wouldn't have a problem.

It was like a throwback to winter rugby last Friday. It absolutely threw it down and it made conditions very difficult.

There was one area of the pitch that was totally waterlogged and that was the end we were attacking in the second-half.

I don't think though that the game would have been much different had it been dry. It was always going to be an arm wrestle.

The competition for the top five is really hotting up and Leeds Rhinos defeat at Halifax Blue Sox was more of a shock than ours.

Gateshead will be kicking themselves that they failed to beat London Broncos and that has put a big dent in their hopes of a top five spot.

Sheffield will come here hoping not to make it three defeats in the league this season. They have some talented individuals and they are capable of winning any game they take part in.

We are well aware of their strengths and weaknesses and we aren't aiming to slip up in our quest for the top spot.

We are at home and we haven't lost at Odsal this season. We don't intend to start this late in the season.

I thought Leeds United were a bit unlucky at Old Trafford last week. Mancheter United have more jam than Hartleys.

I thought Harry Kewell was outstanding and Leeds were handicapped with the injury to Bridges.

He looks a good buy for the club but I think we need an old fashioned type of centre forward. I didn't go to the game but Nathan McAvoy went.

He's a Reds fan and I have a bit of fun with him. He, of course, thought that they deserved to win but I suppose the goals from Dwight Yorke were superb.

Still it's a long season and we will be there or thereabouts at the end. I think we will do well in Europe as well.

Bradford City are unbeaten so far and that in itself is an achievement.

They will have a long season ahead but their confidence must be sky high at the moment.

Our campaign to get the record crowd is well underway. We have had some great feedback and have already sold a lot of tickets.

This is the last home game before the Leeds Rhinos match and we will be pushing the message out.

Make sure you are there and bring a friend. It will be a great occasion.
