DETECTIVES hunting robbers who pinned a 97-year-old woman to a chair while her house was ransacked have renewed their appeal for the public's help.

The pair, including one who was masked, struck at the home of Nora Hinds, who is partially sighted and hard of hearing, in the Layton Avenue area on Tuesday last week.

Mrs Hinds was left unhurt but badly shaken and the thieves made off with a small amount of cash.

Detective Inspector Liam MacNamara, of Weetwood Police, said: "Our inquiry is still ongoing. We're still working on information given to us by members of the public.

"This has produced some positive lines of inquiry but if anyone has any further information we'd be most grateful if they would pass it on to us."

Witnesses, or anyone with any information about the robbery should call Weetwood Police on (0113) 2413481.
