YEADON born pace bowler David Pennett, who is currently playing for the England Board X1 against the Australian Under-19s touring side at Lakenham, Norfolk, enjoyed success for Cumberland last week.

In all he took 11 wickets in the two Minor Counties matches against Norfolk at Lakenham and Sussex at Ransom's CC at Ipswich.

He received the Man-of-the-Match award in helping Cumberland beat Norfolk and his figures were 16-3-52-5.

In this match spinner Simon Kippax formerly of Rawdon had figures of 10.3-1-31-2.

In the drawn game with Suffolk Pennett took six wickets including that of former Nottinghamshire colleague, Derek Randall, whom he caught and bowled for two. Pennett finished with figures of 14.4-3-60-6.

Kippax had a return of 0-35 off eight overs.

Horsforth-born Ashley Metcalfe, the former Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire batsman hit an unbeaten 51 for Cumberland in their match with Northumberland at Netherfield, Kendal.
