Silsden desperately needed points from Saturday's home game against Guiseley, and didn't disappoint in a thrilling game.

Skipton John Akrigg put the visitors in to bat, but they responded with an impressive 215-9 with Barry mcCormick smashing 35 off 39 balls.

Adrian Emmott struggled against the hard hitting McCormick, but Andrew Pullen picked up five wickets for 78. Mark Akrigg was most economical bowler with 4-62 off his 19 overs.

Silsden's batters had to come good and set 165 as their first target to claim two points. At 62 for three off 25 overs that target looked just within reach. John Akrigg was caught on the boundary for 65 with the score on 100 which left Andrew Pullen 16 overs alongside David Bainbridge who was on 10. Some hard hitting and excellent running took the Cobbydalers to 172-4, with just six overs to go for the 215 target.

The next six overs were among the most exciting of the season. Bainbridge was dismissed on 47, three short of his first 50 of the season on 179.

Andrew Pullen, who was striking the ball with elegant ease, was bowled four balls later on 47. Andrew Waggett cracked seven off five balls leaving the score on 191-8 with four balls left.

Brothers Hugh and Tim Sugden scrambled six of the penultimate over leaving Silsden needing 17 to tie and 18 to win.

Hugh hit the first ball straight into the football field, the second was smashed through midwicket, but a desperate dive restricted Silsden to two runs. Hugh was stumped off the third delivery, which brought Mark Akrigg to the wicket for the last three balls.

He scamperd a leg bye giving Tim Sugden the strike.

Eight were needed to draw and nine to win with all the fielders on the boundary edge.

The net ball went straight into the penalty area for a massive six.

It was all down to the last delivery, three needed to win, two to draw. Sugden could only push it to square leg, the scampered the first and when Sugden was turning to complete the second Guiseley's wicket keeper was running frantically with the ball in his hand to run him out. Sugden launched his dive 8ft from the crease, Thompson smashed the wicket, but Silsden had made it reaching 215-8 to tie the game.

n Another poor all round display saw Silsden 2nds slump to a third successive defeat at Collingham.

After starting brightly with paul Tatterton (21) and Bruce Walker (12) posting 38 in 10 overs, only 40 runs were added in the next 20 overs at the Silsden batsmen struggled against the accuracy of Mike Driver, who took 5-58, and Pete Smith (2-41).

Graeme Savage top scored with 25 and Paul Bainbridge made 22 as Silsden closed at 151-9.

In reply the Collingham openers, Smith (77) and Hall (48) never let the Silsden bowlers settle into their rhythm and racked up 100 in only 17 overs. Two late wickets were poor consolation as Collingham strolled to an eight wicket win in 26 overs.
