TAROT cards and crystal balls will be given a reading for customers at the Mallard Inn at Church Street in Ilkley tonight from 6pm.

Medium Julie Windsor will be in residence in the upstairs of the pub, which is also said to be visited by mischievous ghostly spirits.

But if customers can overcome any fear of the ghoulies, they can visit Julia for a session of fortune-telling that will also be recorded for later reference and enjoyment.

And even self-confessed sceptic Chris Bridge, who manages the pub, says that he has noticed some of Julie's forecasts have rung true after her last visit.

He said: "I had a reading done last time for about 20 or 25 minutes with the Tarot cards and the crystal ball.

"I am a bit of a sceptic to be honest, we tend to find that females love the idea, but males are a bit more sceptical."

But Chris went forth and discovered, according to Julie, that he was soon to be signing documents, going on two travel trips and in addition, he would soon injure his knee.

Chris said: "Two weeks later I got out of bed and it was aching all day and night. It is just a bit spooky."

Since the Gazette featured the story earlier this month of ghostly goings-on in the pub, more recollections have come to light of seemingly inexplicable incidents.

Chris said: "You have got a lot of readers out there and people want to know if the ghost has been spotted.

"Someone who used to work here said she had been walking along upstairs and had felt someone push her over, but she had been the only person in the building."

And the resident spirit apparently likes a bit of shake, rattle and roll as another incident was recalled when the music system was turned on again and again after being turned off.

Chris says that efforts are being made to catch sight of an apparition on videotape, but potential ghost busters can take a back seat, because on first sight of the ghost on tape, he has promised to call the Ilkley Gazette.
