Gargrave rider Chris Young is a hot favourite to repeat his win of a year ago in tomorrow's 39th Three Peaks Cyclo-Cross Race.

The event has attracted a massive field of 260 riders Young is bidding to add to his successes in 1994, 1997 and 1998.

To make things a little easier for Young last year's runner up Robert Gebb is missing as he is away competing in the World Fell Running Championship in Malaysia.

Former winner Andy Peace, who triumphed in 1995 and 1996, should be one of the serious challengers to Young, along with Bradford riders Richard Thackray and Jon Watson, while Keighley rider Ian Taylor could be the dark horse of the race.

Other challengers could be last year's surprise third place man Jake Stow and first-time rider Ian Cuthbertson.

Race organiser John Rawnsley (Bradford RCC) will be bidding to complete the course for the 39th time in a row.

American rider Mark Michel is competing for the third time.

The race starts at Helwith Bridge at 10am with the leading riders due back there for the finish about three hours later.

After leaving Helwith Bridge the race proceeds to Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

Then over Ingleborough to Ingleton before tackling Whern-side to Ribblehead.

Then a dash back down the valley to Horton-in-Ribblesdale to tackle the third peak Pen-y-Ghent.
