EMBSAY Cricket Club members who have caused a storm by baring all for the camera have decided to go-ahead and produce a calendar.

Last week the Herald reported how members had gone down to the cricket club for a photoshoot which resulted in a set of rather risqu pictures.

The idea initially was to use the photographs for a humorous version of the club's annual calendar - that is until some of the members got cold feet.

However, after a meeting with all concerned this week, members have agreed to stick to their guns and go-ahead with the calendar.

Trevor Coe, club chairman said: "Since the story last week everything's gone mad. We were on Radio Five Live on Sunday morning and on the British Forces network on Sunday afternoon which goes out to all the British Forces everywhere.

"We've even appeared on Teletext, in the Daily Telegraph, Yorkshire Post, Yorkshire Evening Post and the Telegraph and Argus."

He added that after all this attention the club had to call a meeting to decide the way forward.

"Most of the lads saw the photographs for the first time at the meeting, which they thought were brilliant and decided they would like to go ahead with a calendar.

"It will roughly cost about £2,500 to run off about 500 calendars. So we're looking for a sponsor to help us out."

Trevor added that funds raised from the calendar would go towards Yorkshire Cancer Research.

He said: "We thought this charity was appropriate as Malcolm Garbutt, who used to be club treasurer, died of cancer last year. He was such a big supporter of the club and we thought it would be nice."

In fact, it was Mr Garbutt's son, Andy, of Embsay, who is studying photography at college, who took the pictures of the cricket team in the first place.
