Bradford Bulls are being linked with a sensational swoop for Great Britain skipper Andy Farrell.
The rugby league scene is awash with suggestions that Farrell is allegedly in dispute with Wigan Warriors and that he is ready to join the Bulls for Super League V.
But Bulls chairman Chris Caisley said: "I have heard the stories and they seem to be spreading.
"Any club would be interested in a player of his quality but he has a year of his contract to run and I can't see anything happening. The price Wigan would ask would almost certainly frighten everyone away. It's a non-starter really."
Bulls have been linked with Farrell since it emerged that current loose forward Steve McNamara is a target for Huddersfield.
But Bulls are still involved in contract talks with McNamara and it seems likely he will be retained despite the expected capture of play making Aussie utility man Brad Mackay from St George Illawarra.
The futures of Brian McDermott, Bernard Dwyer and Warren Jowitt are also under discussion as their current deals run out at the end of the year.
Great Britain squad member Paul Anderson is understood to have agreed an extension to his contract.
