Rapper Doctor Man will be promoting his new single with a gig on home territory next week.

The Bradford-based performer will be appearing at Club Nato in Leeds on Monday.

He has just signed up to the London-based label Roop-Eaze Records and his new single A Match Made In Heaven hit the shops this week.

"They are a new label but they're really good. They're mainstream and they've got a couple of other acts on there," said Doctor Man.

"It's a label that specialises in commercial R 'n' B. They seem to have got a lot of influence and money behind them so they're pushing my record everywhere."

Doctor Man has had other singles released, including Natural Feelings, but this is the first time he has been able to hook up to a national distribution network and has high hopes of hitting the charts.

"It's being played all over the country already on local radio stations and in clubs and I'm hopefully going to be featured on MTV, Zee TV and VH1. Tim Westwood from Radio One is also interested in doing something on me," he said.

"It's broken down a lot of doors for me. The response has been amazing."

Well-known Bradford-based Qawaali singer Abdul Hamid also features on the new single, which he describes as a mixture of R 'n' B, rap and Eastern influences.

It will act as a prelude to Doctor Man's debut album Dreams 2 Reality, which he hopes will come out next month.

A video has also been shot in Belgium, where the record is being played in clubs, and he is hoping to put together a full tour later in the year.

"I'm trying to get a gig at St George's Hall. I'd love to play somewere like that in Bradford," he said.

A Match Made In Heaven is available on CD and cassette in most Asian music shops as well as HMV and Virgin Megastore in Bradford.
