A 31-year-old Bradford woman has died suddenly after an operation to remove a brain tumour the size of an apple.

The funeral of Susan Morley, a mother-of-three who died on Sunday in intensive care, was taking place today.

Miss Morley, of Camberley Mount, Holme Wood, Bradford, was rushed to Bradford Royal Infirmary on Monday, September 20, after a sleepless night of severe headaches. She was given a brain scan and immediately transferred to Leeds General Infirmary, where she was told of the tumour.

Her devastated family have spoken of her love of home life and for her three daughters.

Husband Christopher Dutton, 38, said he called the emergency doctor during the night. But when she was no better the following day he fetched the family doctor who called for an ambulance.

"She was scared but she was laughing and joking in the hospital. I think she thought now that she knew what it was, she could get better," he said.

An operation to remove the tumour took place last Friday but Miss Morley, a former Wyke Manor pupil, remained in intensive care until she died at 5am on Sunday. She had suffered headaches for a year before her death.

Described by her family as a "home bird who doted on her children", she leaves behind Leanne, ten, Kirsty, nine, and seven-year-old Kirstan.

Mr Dutton, who is struggling to come to terms with the shock, said: "She was a very loving person, very loyal when times got hard and she was always there for me. It's such a waste."

Next door neighbour Julie Buttress, 30, said: "She will be missed by the whole street. Everybody liked her."

The funeral service was being held at St Christopher's Church, Holme Wood, followed by cremation at Scholemoor.
