at Rawdon

THE October Medal at Rawdon Golf Club was held on Sunday with 73 members taking part. Results were: Division One - C N Shackleton 65 (5); R A Adams 70 (10); P Baker 70 (15).

Division Two - B Gibbons 66 (16); S Nelson 68 (19); I McMeeking 70 (220.

In the David Head final played over 36 holes J McArthur (25) beat D Wallis (4) in the first round by two shots but Wallis hit back in the second round to win by 12 shots and become the overall winner.

Horsforth Turkey

THE Men's section at Horsforth Golf Club started preparations for Christmas on Saturday by winning prizes in the Turkey Four Ball Better Ball competition.

Eighty-three couples entered with the leading pairings all achieving the very low sore of 61 and positions being decided on the back nine scores.

Results: 1, J Gunn (10) and M Hunter (5), 61, best back six; 2, J Hirst (12) and S Uttley (13), 61, best back nine; 3, B Cottle (11) and S Bennett (6), 61; 4, G Kay (9) and J Kershaw (13) 62; 5, A Thompson (10) and J Shilton (5), 62; 6, P Taylor (5) and P Shilton (7), 62; 7, C Smith (23) and J Davies (11), 62; 8, I Wallace (11) and J Bland (12), 63.

The Ladies' October Medal was played last week with 43 entries. Results:

Division One: 1, M Leddy (19), 73; 2, J A Howson (17), 74; 3, J P Greenwood (16), 80.

Division Two: 1, J B Allan (28), 74; 2, B Silvester (25), 74; 3, L Halligan (25), 76.

Division Three: 1, T M King (39), 73; 2, B Moss (36), 78; 3, S Hollingworth (36), 81.

Bracken Ghyll

WITH the end of the competitive season fast approaching at Bracken Ghyll Golf Club, Addingham, many of the club's competitions are reaching their conclusion.

The Highfield House Shield, a medal knock-out, was one of the club's original events and it was decided with Dave Gilbert beating John Moreman in a closely contested final.

The Wharfedale Trophy, a knock-out competition for the over-55s, saw John Williams beat Stan Fawcett in the final whilst in the junior section's Orion Challenge Andy Cox was the winner with Brad Houlston runner-up.

Whilst work is progressing on the development of the new course extensions preparations for the adminstration of various sections of the club for next season have been made.

John Eaton has been appointed captain of the 8-15 section and Charlie Cox has been appointed Rabbits Captain.

Otley Golf Club

AT Otley Golf Club the final of the Chevin Cup, the last competition for silverware this season, saw a closely fought competition in which Andrew and Mark Holmes moved from fourth after the first round to winners with scores of 65 and 64.

Hot on their heels were the next four runners-up.

Leading scores were: A Holmes (6) and M Holmes (6) 65, 64 129; G Beaumont (16) and R Turner (14) 65, 65 130; P Glendinning (5) and J Glendinning (13) 67, 65 132; K Davison (14) and D Pickles (10) 66, 66 132; P Howarth (10) and S Thornley (14) 65, 67 132.

The prize presentation for all the season's prizewinners will take place on Saturday.

The Ladies' Section held their October Stableford on a perfect autumn day and 50 ladies enjoyed excellent scores.

Results were: Division One - Susan Ridyard (18) 43; Sheila Sunderland (10) 38.

Division Two - Pat Greaves (30) 36; Jenny Quinn (29) 35.

Division Three - Anne Lilleyman (38) 36; Pat Harrison (35) 34.
