If Miles Mizon and his team at Greenhead Grammar were seen to be 'punching' the air with wide beams of delight on their faces - then their joy should be shared.

In recent times the expressions were reversed, putting on a brave face, in the wake of the disappointments in not getting technology status.

The school team could be forgiven for pinching themselves just to make sure the latest announcement isn't a dream.

The selection of Greenhead as a City Learning Centre is a tremendous piece of news for all schools in the area. It is rightly stressed the facility will be for Greenhead's many partners, including the feeder primary schools as well as Holy Family, Parkside and Ilkley secondary schools. Those with vision will now be able to put in place all of those technology predictions for the future. Pupils will have access to all forms of learning technology, world information through the Internet, and be able to study at home. You can hear it now - "Sir, I sent my homework but it must have got lost in cyberspace".

It is a great step forward for education in the area and the delight of Mr Mizon should be shared. What a great start for the new Millennium.
