ALTHOUGH Guiseley fans may have been a little disappointed with the draw cup fever is building up for the trip to take on Conference side Forest Green Rovers in the first round proper of the FA Cup.

The trip on Saturday, October 30, follows the magnificent achievement Guiseley notched when they defeated high riding Conference side Nuneaton Borough 3-2 on their own ground on Saturday. (see back page story)

It was a superb show from Bobby Davison's boys but the side is now riddled with injuries as Guiseley are forced into playing three games between the two FA Cup rounds whereas Forest Green will have only played one.

Guiseley lost 3-1 at home to Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday night despite taking the lead with a good strike from Simon Parke.

Parke however was to limp from the field following defender Simon Phillips being carried off with a suspected cruciate ligament injury.

Phillips heads a list of injured players which includes Parke (ankle ligaments), Des Hazel (achilles tendon), Steve Hook (hip injury), Simon Trevitt (back to the specialist with his knee injury), Neil Parsley (knee injury), Simon Ireland (broken leg) and Matt Daly (broken bone in his ankle).

On Saturday Guiseley have to muster a side to travel to Marine for a league game and this is followed by a mid-week trip up north to face Spennymoor United on Tuesday.

The Reserves travel to Altrincham for an 11 am kick-off on Saturday and then play Altrincham at home next Thursday (7.45 pm).

The Reserves had a superb 4-1 winover Morecambe in which goals were scored by Rudi Coleano, Paul Bulgin (2) and Andy Carlton.

They then fell from grace on Saturday with a totally inept performance which saw them go out of the Wharfedale FA Cup 4-2 to Trinity Athletic.
