THE Wharfedale FA Airedale International Challenge Cup gets underway on Saturday with trophy holders Horsforth St Margaret's visiting the side they defeated in last year's final Rawdon Old Boys.

Other second round games to be played on Saturday are: Ilkley Junior Youth v Addingham, Baildon Trinity Athletic v Guiseley Reserves, Ilkley AFC v Burley Trojans, Bramhope v Yew Tree Otley, Salts Old Boys v Pool AFC.

A first round game to be played on Saturday is Otley Town v Menston Rangers. The winners will visit Ventus Yeadon Celtic in the second round.

Matches will kick-off at 2 pm with extra-time if necessary.

Rawdon AFC's game at Trinity and All Saints College has been cancelled as Trinity have withdrawn and Rawdon now get a bye into the next round.

Ties to be played in the Wharfedale FA Sunday Cup on Sunday kicking-off at 11 am are - First round re-play - AFC Fox v Old Ball Horsforth. Second Round - Horsforth Rangers v Eshols Sports, Regent Victoria v Station Wanderers, Rawdon AFC v Park Rangers, Shoulder of Mutton v Baildon New Inn.

SUNDAY CUP

THERE was a shock defeat for Guiseley Reserves when they visited Trinity Athletic at Baildon on Saturday in the first round of the Wharfedale FA Challenege Cup. Trinity were more up for the game than Guiseley and deservedly went through 4-2 with goals from Carl Dalton (2), Nick James and Paul Clarke. Scorers for Guiseley were Andy Carlton and Steve Daykin.

There were plenty of goals at Otley Town and at Bramhope where the home sides recorded 5-1 wins.

Town beat Menston Rangers with strikes from Ross Barron (2), Lee Grice, James Firth and Tom Dixon. Menston's consolation came from Roger Turnbull.

Bramhope opened up with a Paul Dobson penalty and added others through Dan Waugh, Wayne Greenwood, Dave Brindle and Simon Campbell with Ben Kelly replying for Otley's Yew Tree.

Addingham AFC gained a 2-1 win in extra-time against Ilkley Juniors Youth for whom Joe Horne was the scorer. For Addingham Phil Smith and Jamie Barrow scored. Ilkley AFC won the derby game with Burley Trojans thanks to a goal from Rick Wilson.

Last year's finalists Rawdon Old Boys and Horsforth St Margaret's played out a goalless draw and with no score after extre-time go to a re-play. Pool AFC recorded a 3-1 win at Salts Old Boys with goals from Andrew Greenwood, Shaun Joyce and Matt O'Grady. Salts pulled one back through Andrew Stocks.

In the Wharfedale FA Sunday Cup, Horsforth Old Ball won the first round re-play at AFC Fox 2-1 to produce the shock of the day. The Old Ball play in the little known Nicholas Green League and their win was something to celebrate, their goals came from Mark Higson and Paul Ibison. Fox netted through Adrian Bond.

In the second round Horsforth Rangers hammered Esholt Sports 5-0 with goals from Don Kersley (2), Marty Dabill (2) and Warren Drury.

There was a shock result at Yeadon's Kirk Lane Park where the much fancied Regent Victoria lost 1-0 to Station Wanderers for whom Sean Tounsend was the scorer.

Cup holders Rawdon AFC lost 4-2 at home to Yeadon Park Rangers. Rawdon were beaten by a side who were well up for the game showing great effort and determination. Their goals came from Darren Auton (2), Craig Auton and Steve Banks. Rawdon netted through David Gilks and Lee Parr.

In the Baildon derby Shoulder of Mutton beat last season's finalists Baildon New Inn 2-1 with goals from Peter Dinsdale and Lee Grice.
