Plans to improve dozens of homes in the Lawkholme area of Keighley have been approved by councillors.

A list has been drawn up of houses which will benefit from the £1.35 million regeneration project.

The three-year programme is part of an ongoing "group repair" project in three rundown areas of Bradford district.

Councillors aim to improve housing conditions for some of the poorest and most socially-disadvantaged local people.

Work will be carried out before next April on 20-34 Bradford Road, 2-12 June Street, 1 May Street, 2-8 May Street, 113-119 Lawkholme Lane, 21-35 Park Grove and 16-18 Caledonia Road.

Work will be carried out in the financial year 2000/01 on 2-14 Berry Street, 15-33 Frederick Street, 14-30 Sandywood Strete, 1-14 Sand Street and 31-47 Holker Street.

The next year will see work on 1-21 Wren Street, 1-23 Victoria Avenue, 122-124 Lawkholme Lane, 1 Caledonia Road, 2-14 Victoria Avenue and 118 Lawkholme Lane.

The council gives three years' notice for each street so residents can get involved in the planning or carry out their own internal improvements at the same time.
