Members of the West Yorkshire Fire Authority will meet on Friday to consider a report on the proposed relocation of Bradford fire station.
Councillors attending the meeting at fire service headquarters in Birkenshaw, Bradford, will also decide whether to approve a public consultation.
Under the proposals, Bradford's existing fire station in Nelson Street would be moved to a new site on Maud Street off Leeds Road.
If the public consultation goes ahead those people in the affected areas will have until December 3 to write to the authority with their comments about the relocation plans.
According to the report Bradford is classed as an A-Risk area, the highest classification, which means there a high risk of loss of life or damage to property.
This means at least two fire engines from Nelson Street must be able to respond to a call-out within five minutes.
The relocation to the new site is necessary, the report argues, to cover parts of east Bradford which are A-risk areas but currently outside that five minute response time.
