Bradford's city centre manager Elaine Frances has gone one step further than just endorsing the Telegraph & Argus's Shop Local campaign - she is also going to use it as part of a Christmas advertising drive.

She has been so impressed by the coverage given to the T&A's drive to encourage people to shop in Bradford city centre that she is going to use its logo in a new bus advertising promotion.

From next month, 130 buses will carry adverts for the city centre management's campaign - called Buy it in Bradford - designed to encourage people to do their Christmas shopping in Bradford.

The advertisements, all featuring the T&A's Shop Local logo, will contain details of late night shopping, which begins on November 16, and Sunday shopping, which will begin on November 21.

They will also give details of the Christmas Lights switch-on, the Reindeer Parade and the Christmas Market on December 11 and 12.

Mrs Frances said: "I've been very impressed with the amount of coverage given to the Shop Local campaign and the way some of the more interesting specialist shops have been highlighted.

"A lot of people don't realise we've got such good quality shops, and it's important to bring this to public's attention.

"It's extremely important that people do stay local. The more money they spend in Bradford, the better the shops will be.

"We need to get people who haven't shopped in Bradford for a while to come back and see how good it can be here."

The city centre management's new advertising campaign will begin on November 15. Posters will be placed on the side of 30 buses, with a further 100 posters pasted on the back of the First Bradford vehicles, which will travel on routes all over the district.

"The posters will give details about late night shopping, Sunday shopping and other information, such as the Christmas lights switch-on and the Reindeer Parade," added Mrs Frances.

"People will be able to park free of charge in council car-parks on Thursday nights and Sundays. The campaign's all part of a big push to encourage people to shop in Bradford at Christmas."
