I've had one or two requests asking what we are doing over the Christmas and New Year - Millennium - period. Are we bringing out a special edition etc.?

The answer is that at this stage we will be publishing as normal over the period - albeit a day earlier.

Yes, we will be carrying a souvenir issue marking the last issue of this Millennium and welcoming the New Millennium.

We will of course, as promised, also be honouring those nominated as 'The Cream of Keighley'.

As we progress with new technology and the electronic word, I believe the printed word has such tremendous authority on such occasions.

This was reinforced while I was reading the magnificent book 'Stories of the Century' produced by colleagues at the T&A.

It wasn't just a stroll down memory lane. It brought back to me the fact that as a working reporter I had covered a fair number of those major stories.

As I have often said, the honour of being custodian of a newspaper which was first printed in 1862 sends shivers down my spine. Looking through the pages of back issues you can soon paint a picture of what life was like in bygone eras. We see all issues as a matter of record.

As soon as we have finalised details I will announce exactly what we are doing and when we are publishing so that you can make sure you order your copy.
