FOR the second time in three weeks, the Rylstone WI Calendar girls have been guests at London's Savoy Hotel.

The 'girls' famous for their alternative WI calendar in aid of leukaemia research were guests of actress Maureen Lipman at the Women of the Year lunch and assembly.

The theme this year was Human Rights.

There the group of ladies from Yorkshire mingled with the rich and famous including special guest speaker, Linda Gray, better known as Sue Ellen of the TV series, Dallas.

"We had a marvellous time and were treated like celebrities," exclaimed Angela Baker, whose husband John's death from leukaemia sparked off the launch of the calendar and subsequent Christmas cards.

The ladies are also appearing in Hello magazine this month and today (Friday) are meeting sports personality and cricketer Ian Botham. Mr Botham is once again walking from Land's End to John O'Groats to raise money for research into the disease.

He is to be joined by the calendar girls at the Reebok Stadium at Wigan to promote the calendar and cards before they pop next door into Asda where they are also promoting their work.

Meanwhile, the calendar's photographer Terry Logan, whose wife Lynda is one of the models, has received praise from Lord Lichfield.

He told radio listeners that he thought the photographs were brilliant, and followed up his comments with a personal letter to Mr Logan.

Also, the National Museum of Film, Photography and Television in Bradford has requested a set of the calendar pictures for its archives.
