Stephen Perry, the elusive Cross Hills jeweller is again being sought by police.

Mr Perry angered customers who had goods at his shop by disappearing for nearly two months last summer. He was later discovered to have merely extended a holiday with friends on the south coast.

But he has still not returned to his shop on Main Street and still holds many customers' property.

A Cross Hills police spokesman says: "He has been into Cross Hills and started returning property, but most hasn't been returned.

"Mr Perry is alive and well, but seems to be dodging everybody. He says he's back at the shop, but it's never open and there never appears to be any signs of life inside it."

The police have a contact number for Mr Perry and various addresses, but are still in the dark as to what is going on.

So far, 22 people have come forward claiming Mr Perry has their property. Items, mainly brought into his shop to be repaired or altered, include various items of jewellery, watches and a grandfather clock.

Cross Hills police would like to hear from anyone else who believes Mr Perry holds his or her belongings.

They should contact PC Keith Todd on 01756 793377 ext 3786.

A Bradley home was broken into at the weekend. An 18-carat gold necklace and pendant engraved with the letter 'G', a gold-coloured bracelet with small gold-coloured coins attached to it and some US dollars were stolen from the Airevalley Drive house on Friday night.

South Craven school suffered scorch marks after a vandalism attack.

The damage was caused after someone set fire to newspapers stolen from the nearby Spar shop. The result was scorch marks on an external wall.

Waste paper bins in the school had also been set on fire and there was evidence to suggest someone had been inside the school.

If anyone saw someone on the school grounds between 9am and 10am on Sunday, they should contact PC Andy Woodhead at Cross Hills police station on 01756 793377.
