A dream has come true for brave ambulance driver Diane Biggs who has just returned from the holiday of a lifetime to DisneyWorld.

Mother-of-two Diane, of Undercliffe, enjoyed two weeks with her family at the Florida resort - thanks to the fundraising efforts of friends and colleagues.

Well-wishers rallied round the 38-year-old in July this year after they were devastated to learn of her on-going battle with ovarian cancer.

And after two bumper fundraising events and several donations, enough money was raised to send Diane and her family on a dream trip to America - fulfilling Diane's childhood dream of meeting Mickey Mouse.

Despite undergoing gruelling chemotherapy sessions, Diane was able to reserve some energy for the trip so she could get the most out of her stay in the fairytale resort.

Now back at home, she said: "We had a fabulous time. We stayed in DisneyWorld resort and went to see nearly everything, including Epcot, the Magic Kingdom and the Animal Kingdom. We packed everything in but we could still go back and see lots more.

"It was everything I expected it to be, and a little bit more.

"I would really like to thank everyone who contributed to making my dream come true very much. I really appreciate it."

Diane helped to save the lives of two teenagers trapped in their burning home two years ago. She has worked for the West Yorkshire Ambulance Service for six years, driving non-emergency patients to hospital appointments.

She had felt poorly for some time when she suddenly collapsed at the wheel of her vehicle on May 6 this year.

She was rushed to Bradford Royal Infirmary where doctors discovered a tumour 9ins by 6ins in her abdomen.

After that, friends got together to raise money for Mrs Biggs' trip to America, raising £4,019 from a single charity event in July.

Other contributions included proceeds from a fun day held by Odsal fire station.
