Three Bradford Schools won titles at the West Yorkshire Table Tennis championships at Armley Sports Centre, Leeds.

The winning teams were Lady Lane Park School under-11s boys from Bingley, Bradford Girls Grammar under-13s and Bradford Grammar School under-16s boys. All three teams won titles for the second year in a row.

Unlucky Clayton Middle School entered boys and girls teams at under-13 levels, but finished runners-up.

Lady Lane Park were pushed to the limit in the semi-finals by Bradford Boys Grammar School.

The last set on the table was close, but Lady Lane team have a little more experience and that just tipped the scales in their favour. Alex Pue beat Bradford Boys Grammar's Peter Boyd 21-19 in the third game to give Lady Lane a 5-3 win.

Lady Lane beat Sandal Endowed School 7-1 in the final. The winning team was Josh Sharp, Ross Roberts, Alex Pue, Rory Roberts and James Biggin.

Bradford Girls Grammar School under-13 team did exceptionally well to win the title with only one experienced player on the side, the under-12 England International Heather Shutt.

Having lost another England under-12s player Nicola White to the England Academy last season, the team is going through a rebuilding process. They beat Clayton Middle School in the final 6-2. The winning team was Heather Shutt, Haly Lymbery, Saira George, Rebecca Singh.

Bradford Boys Grammar School Under-16 team is strong, skilful and experienced. They have Stephen Denny and Andrew Woodhead, who won the English Schools National under-13s team Championships last year.

The boys did not have any difficulty in beating a very good Halifax Holy Trinity School team 7-1 to take them through to the regional finals along with the other two Bradford winning teams at Leeds on January 23. The winning team was Denny, Woodhead, David White and Alex Runham.
