The parents of a Bradford club-goer viciously stamped to death in an alleyway today claimed some of his killers are still at large.

David and Jean Leach believe other clubbers - who have yet to appear in Court - are as guilty as Michael George for the Murder of their son, David.

George was today beginning a life behind bars for the ferocious murder of Mr Leach, who was kicked and stamped upon at least 20 times, Newcastle Crown Court heard.

George, 34, attacked Bradford-born David Leach so brutally that he shattered Mr Leach's cheekbone leaving him to die after choking on his own blood.

Mr Leach senior told the Telegraph & Argus after the case: "The police don't have a lot of evidence, but there are a lot of people who have run away from the truth.

"I don't believe George was the only one," he said.

The court heard how George was among a gang of people who followed 33-year-old Mr Leach out of Bradford's Discovery Bay night club, in Manningham Lane, and then chased him around a car outside a pizza shop.

When they caught up with Mr Leach, who was born in Carlisle Road, Manningham, it was George who delivered the fatal blows, the court heard.

But Mr Leach senior said they believed justice had yet to prevail and added he felt let down by some people who gave witness statements, only, he claimed, to change them in court.

The jury, who passed a unanimous verdict at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday, had heard father-of-one Mr Leach had suffered a heart attack the day before he died last March.

Passing sentence, High Court Judge Mr Justice Hooper told George: "So ferocious was the stamping the cheek was fractured, blood flowed and he died as a result of inhalation of blood.

"You were the sole attacker or, if you were not, you were responsible for the very severe blows.

"There is no evidence of pre-meditation and you did not arm yourself with any weapon.

"The whole attack only took a matter of seconds and I regard it as being one continuous chase."

George, who fled to London after Mr Leach's battered body was found later that day, was arrested almost a month later in Leeds after a police man hunt. Murder squad detectives had taken the unusual step of issuing a picture of George in a bid to track him down.

Co-accused Bradford man Khalid Mahmood Khan, 25, of Whetley Lane, Girlington, was acquitted at the direction of Mr Justice Hooper last week.

The prosecution had alleged Mr Khan helped George while he beat his victim.

The court had heard how the murder was sparked after Mr Leach slapped his girlfriend Lisa Johnson believing she was flirting with George.

After the group moved on to Discovery Bay Miss Johnson had turned to George for comfort who, said prosecutor Simon Bourne-Arton QC, decided to "teach Mr Leach a lesson" and followed him outside the club.

A pathologist's report found Mr Leach had been stamped on twice, leaving the imprint of a boot on his face.

The body of Mr Leach, a demolition contractor of Jubilee Road, Siddal, Halifax, was found by three teenage girls at 6am later that morning.

Mrs Leach, who moved from Bradford with her family ten years ago, said her son loved his nights out.

She said: "He was full of fun and liked to enjoy himself. He was always dancing, he loved it."

Detective Sergeant David Knopwood, who was commended by Mr Justice Hooper alongside detective constables Alan Tetley and Martin Rishton of Bradford Central Police, said: "This was something that started off like many street fights that occur each weekend. It escalated into a ferocious, vicious attack."
