Cup specialists Dudley Hill are all keyed up to put the frighteners on the professionals again when they visit York Wasps in tomorrow's Silk Cut Challenge Cup third round tie at the Ryedale Stadium.

Parry Lane coach Kelvin Lockett guided the side to victory on the same ground at the same stage two years ago and feels they are in the mood to pull of another major upset.

"Amateur sides don't need motivating for games like this," says Lockett. "The atmosphere in training all week has been special and everyone has been arriving 15 minutes earlier.

"It's what makes the cup so special and we are looking forward to it tremendously."

And Hill are adopting the same build-up which served them so well in 1997 when they pulled off a 21-14 win.

"We are having a light breakfast at the Royal Oak in City Lane and are then stopping off for a team meeting on the way.

"The problem for such games can be keeping the players calm. You can get too uptight and that has an adverse effect on performance."

York have made a poor start to the season winning just one of their opening five games in the Northern Ford Premiership and although Lockett believes they must start favourites he is in optimistic mood.

"We are going into the game on a good run of form and if we can control the ball well and keep disciplined I believe we can cause an upset.

"I have at a look at York and they are quite an efficient outfit but if anything they do lack game breaking players.

"I have not shown the players videos of them in action because I firmly believe if we get our game right we have a good chance.

"I will be looking to my experienced players to set the lead and I know if they can do that the young players in the team will follow."

With that in mind Lockett, a former assistant coach with Keighley and Halifax under Peter Roe, is pleased to welcome back veteran prop Mark Todd after rib cartilage trouble.

Four coaches have been booked by supporters and many more are expected to travel by car to give the side plenty of vocal support on their big day.
