Ripon City 1 Rawdon AFC 3

RAWDON AFC booked another semi-final place when they defeated Ripon City Magnets in the Alverton Trophy re-play. They kicked-off against the wind but were determined not to make the same mistakes as in the previous meeting with Magnet. They continued from the previous week's performance with one of similar quality playing some excellent football and working hard for each other off the ball.

The first period was dominated by the away side and Magnet had to work hard to keep Rawdon at bay. It was no surprise when Darren Auton scored the first goal after a period of excellent possession and passing with Ripon chasing shadows.

The home side still could not muster a response as Rawdon tightened their grip with a second goal through Andrew Corkhill, who was playing up front instead of in his usual defensive role.

By now Rawdon were brimming with confidence and everyone looked comfortable in possession. Darren Auton rounded off the first-half with a great solo goal waltzing past the Ripon defence and slotting the ball home to make it 3-0 at the break.

Ripon were in need of a quick goal as the second-half started but again it was Rawdon who made the running forcing the 'keeper to make a superb reflex save from Phil Robinson. The remainder of the half was fairly even although Ripon did manage a consolation goal.
