A Keighley girl has become the voice of the North for the BBC's futuristic new Millennium exhibition.

The Yorkshire tones of Bront Middle School student Charlotte Copperwaite, 10, can be heard in adverts for a massive Futureworld display. She also presents a 'virtual' weather forecast with computer-generated events such as meteor showers.

Futureworld has opened at the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford and will tour the UK for the rest of the year. The hi-tech interactive displays show how the digital age will transform the way information is presented, and allows visitors to compete in a 'virtual' game show.

The BBC wanted children from across the country to record their voices to promote the exhibition.

Charlotte's voice was chosen from several tapes sent to the BBC by her drama teacher, Penelope Jay, who runs Keighley theatre school Stage-Skope. Charlotte, of Sladen Street, travelled to London with her father, Andrew, for a recording and filming session.

Mum Lorraine says: "She loved every minute.''
