Wayne Jacobs says playing against Manchester United's world-class stars has made Bradford City even more determined to beat the drop.

The Bantams suffered their second 4-0 reverse of the season at the hands of Premiership leaders United to remain in the bottom three of the Premiership.

Jacobs was up against England star David Beckham and he said: "Beckham is a world-class player and I thoroughly enjoyed playing against him.

"I have loved every minute of the season so far and it really does whet your appetite for having another season in the Premiership.

"We want to play against these sides again."

Jacobs was placed on the transfer list last summer by City after rejecting a new deal with his current contract due to run out this summer. "I just want to keep going and prove I am worth a new deal," he said.

Meanwhile, City boss Paul Jewell has hit back at Sky TV pundit Rodney Marsh who on Saturday lunchtime again rubbished the Bantams' hopes of staying up. He predicted that City would lose 9-1 on Saturday and said United's youth team would be too good for Jewell's men.

The City boss said: "I was aware of what he had said. He claimed before that he wasn't being disrespectful but of course he is. He doesn't know the meaning of the word 'respect'."
