A LATE-NIGHT caf bar in Ilkley has been given the
go-ahead by councillors who had been worried about the effects of noisy twilight
revellers.
The night venue, proposed for Brook Street, still needs
permission from Bingley Magistrates Court for late licensing on weekends which the developers, Blackburn-based Daniel Thwaites Breweries, will seek next week.
A licensing panel council meeting heard that the
authority's environmental health officers were concerned about the effects of punters' activities around the premises late at night.
The brewery asked for an 11pm licence on Mondays and Tuesdays, with a 1am limit from Wednesday to Saturday.
A spokesman for Thwaites told the meeting: "The
applicant lives in the area and has not seen any people living in the immediate area of the premises.
"There will be air
conditioning so there should be no reason for people to open the windows."
A spokesman for the council's environmental health team, who claimed there was at least one residential property in Brook Street which may be affected, said: "These premises are single glazed and, even if there was double glazing, the bass from the sound system would travel through the glass."
The panel granted a
provisional 12-month licence subject to agreement from the fire authority.
