Adultery is in store for real-life sweethearts Julie Broadbent and Philip Smith in their latest acting roles.

The Cross Hills couple are reunited on stage in Skipton Little Theatre's production of an Alan Ayckbourn comedy.

Time and Time Again sees both of their characters attracted to people they shouldn't in a tale of suburban shenanigans.

The last time Julie and Philip were together in leading roles they were an antagonistic couple celebrating their wedding anniversary.

A Double Celebration - a scene is pictured right - took Julie and Philip back to Glusburn Institute where they both performed as children.

As adults they went on to play several principal parts and chorus roles for Sutton Amateurs, where they started courting around seven years ago.

This year's Sutton pantomime, Little Miss Muffet, will see Julie making her debut as principal boy while Philip plays his usual comedy role.

Time And Time Again is presented on August 1-5 with a small cast including Silsden man Chris Birch, a Skipton Little Theatre stalwart.

Philip says the play is not one of Ayckbourn's most recent but stands the test of time because the characters are well-drawn and the situations will be familiar to most of the audience.

The action takes place in the conservatory and garden of a suburban house and the adjacent football and cricket ground play a large part in the plot.

Graham and Anna live in the house and one of Graham's employees takes along his fiancee Joan to meet them.

Graham makes a beeline for Joan but she is attracted to Anna's brother, a poetic dreamer who talks to the garden gnome.

Philip says a romantic entanglement in the garden pond leads to half-hearted attempts at coming clean and a farcical conclusion.

Tickets for Time and Time Again cost £5 (children and students £2.50) and are available by phoning 01756 794997.
