Frankie Wainman jnr was forced to pull out of a trip to Holland after damaging his car at Coventry.

The Silsden driver had hoped to use the meeting at the Midlands track to set up his vehicle for next month's World Championship finals.

But he was forced into major repairs when he damaged his rear axle in the final after finishing third in his heat.

It meant he had to cancel a planned trip to St Maarten for the Dutch Dirt Track Champ-ionship.

Wainman was not the only top driver to experience problems.

His father Frankie snr debuted a new car but after finishing seventh in his heat he also suffered damage which prevented him from making the trip to Holland.

This weekend there are two meetings, Swaffham (Sunday, noon) and Kings Lynn (Sunday, 6pm).

Swaffham plays host to the second World Championship semi-final. Frankie Wainman jnr starts the race on pole.
