Detectives hunting three Asian men after shots were fired at a Bradford flat on Sunday think the suspects could be linked to a number of other gun-related incidents in the city.

A 26-year-old man who was the mistaken target of the violence at Westfield Crescent, Undercliffe, has told police that three men were sitting opposite his window immediately before shots were fired.

The Asian trio, believed to have been involved in an earlier violent clash with three white men, ran off while the occupant contacted the police at about 2.15am.

Forensic experts found one of the three bullets went through the open window and embedded itself in the bedroom plasterboard.

Three white men - two 32-year-olds and one 28-year-old - were arrested yesterday in connection with the earlier incident and were also being questioned about the shooting.

Police think the 26-year-old, who was not involved in the gang violence, was shot at because he lives at the former home of one of the arrested men.

That man suffered head injuries in the fight and was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary where he was kept in overnight for treatment.

The three Asian men police are hunting had sped off in a blue K-registration Mitsubishi Shogun which was later recovered in Pool Court, Otley Road, Bradford.

"We are investigating the theory that the three Asian men involved may already be subject to the inquiries into a series of incidents in Bradford," said a police spokesman.

These included the incident at Lidget Green when a man was shot in the leg, the drive-by shooting at the Shimla restaurant in Great Horton Road, the July 28 Lidget Green kidnapping and West Bowling double shooting.

Despite residents' fears about large drug dealing near the scene of the Undercliffe shooting, police say they have no reason to think it was connected. Anyone with information about Sunday's shooting is asked to contact police on (01274) 373112.
