About a thousand motorcycle enthusiasts are expected to converge on a moorland pub in an event organised by a re-formed club.

The bikers, from throughout Yorkshire, will be attending Denholme and District Motorcycle Club's first Bike Bash on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, August 19 and 20 at the Guide Inn near Keighley.

It is the biggest event the club has organised since its reformation in April this year, spearheaded by Keighley's Paul Suckley. "We are hoping to attract about 1000 bikers over the weekend. There's been a lot of interest," said Paul.

Space nearby has been made available for people who want to camp overnight. There will be a Sunday morning breakfast bar set up. Central to the event will be a marquee, where three live bands will perform, and there are plans for a barbecue and events including trick riding.

The club was reformed after folding in the mid 1980s. It was first set up in 1965 and in its heyday, had hundreds of members with people travelling for miles to attend. "We have been amazed by the interest in such a short time of setting the club up again," said Paul, who joined the original club in 1965.

Admission to the Bike Bash is £5 with discounts for members and youngsters aged 16 and under going free. The Guide Inn is on the moors between Cullingworth and Keighley.
