Defender David Wetherall, who has yet to miss a Premiership match for Bradford City, returns to the side for tomorrow's visit to West Ham.

Wetherall missed Monday's 7-2 Worthington Cup victory over Darlington with a groin injury but is recalled as the Bantams aim to climb off the bottom of the table.

His return is particularly welcome as City are already without injured defenders Andy O'Brien, Andy Myers and Ian Nolan.

Also in the squad are Peter Beagrie, who has stepped up his training after being out with a calf injury, and Lee Sharpe who had stitches in a foot after Satur-day's 1-0 loss to Southampton.

City coach Malcolm Shotton, meanwhile, has spoken of his admiration for rival Italian strikers Benito Carbone and Paulo Di Canio who go head to head at Upton Park.

Shotton said: "The two Italians are top quality players and both are very influential. Ultimately we know we need to keep Di Canio quiet and feed the ball to Beni to make him tick.

"Both players have got different qualities, and both are exciting when they are playing well.

"I watch Beni closely in training and I know he has got exceptional talent.

"I have seen the goals Di Canio scores and he has the ability to turn the game in a flash.

"Beni comes back to collect the ball. Unfortunately he has tended to miscue the ball when he has had a shot at goal, but if he continues to get the chances I am confident he will score goals.

"He makes chances for other players and has got good vision and passing ability. His attitude has also been excellent as indeed has the attitude of all the players."

City replaced West Ham at the bottom of the table when they lost at home to Southampton while tomorrow's rivals won 3-0 at Coventry to go one point in front of the Bantams.

Shotton said: "I believe West Ham are in a false position. They have been playing some good football without getting results, similar to us. We have also been playing some decent football and creating chances but not taking them."

City are looking to end their miserable away record of no goals and no points from three Premiership matches.

Shotton said: "West Ham are good at going forward and we have got to make sure we are up to the task. The players know what they are up against.

"Obviously we were disappointed at losing against Southampton, but we bounced back by beating Darlington, one of the better Division Three sides, 7-2 in the Worthington Cup two days later.

"We created plenty of chances and could have won by more.

"No one likes to be bottom of the table, but if Manchester United had experienced the tough sort of start we had in the first five or six games they wouldn't have been happy about it."

City included youngsters Mark Bower, Scott Kerr and Gareth Grant in the squad which travelled south today.
