Dean Windass wants to win the league - the Premiership 'Third Division' that is.

The City battler subscribes to the theory that the top flight is split into three levels, and the Bantams need to finish well up the bottom one to ensure another great escape.

Tomorrow's trip to Charlton takes on extra importance with the promoted side expected to be caught up in the same scrap.

City have already suffered against Southampton, Manchester City and Ipswich and daren't fall against another rival in the relegation dogfight.

Windass said: "We've got a good record against the top teams because playing against big, well-known players you want to show you're good enough.

"But we've let ourselves down in the other games - the ones that are doubly important because they are sides who will be near to the bottom.

"We've got to approach every game in the same way. The teams round and about us have got to be beaten.

"But it's just a confidence thing and the Leeds result last Sunday has given us a big lift.

"It was frustrating being suspended and missing a game like that on Sky, but I was so pleased for the lads to get a good result."

City have failed to take a point off the promoted sides so far and Windass predicted another tough challenge tomorrow.

He said: "I thought Ipswich were very good, and Charlton will be no different. Alan Curbishley has got them well organised. He hasn't got heaps of money, but he has spent well with strikers like Jonatan Johan-sson. They are good at home, but we've got to make sure we go there and get something. If we come back having lost then we're in the mire again."
