Residents of the Gloucester Avenue sheltered housing estate in Silsden have something to smile about

after a complete

refurbishment of their community centre.

The project, spear-headed by tenants' association secretary Emmie Harding-Hill, has come to fruition through a combin-ation of hard work and dona-tions - some from local firms.

Mrs Harding-Hill says she is delighted with the appearance of the centre and is glad all the hard work is finished.

"We're really, really pleased with it," she says.

The redecoration of the entire centre has been made possible through donations of paint from the Silsden Co-op as well as B & Q, and with a donation of £685 from the Keighley Area Panel, which paid for the carpet.

Local bingo players, who play at the centre on Wednesday and Fridays, also saved £232 which paid for blinds to replace the centre's old curtains.
