Keith Lee was on song with a treble victory for Nelson Nomads as they took on Embassy 'A' in the First Division.

He despatched Carl White 21-14, 21-19 before enjoying victories over David White and Neil Foley. David White was the home team's most profitable player, beating David Ayrton and Michael Wrigley who in turn managed one win each for the Champions with Ayrton beating Carl White 17-21, 22-20, 21-19 and Wrigley overcoming Neil Foley 21-18, 21-9. Carl and David White squared it for Embassy with a thrilling 21-17, 19-21, 22-20 doubles win against Lee and Wrigley.

In Nelson's second match of the week the Lothersdale based team were made to fight hard by the visiting Nemesis boys who had Pete Worger in defiant form with wins against David Ayrton (21-11, 21-18) and Catherine Lawson (21-10, 21-17) before narrowly failing against Michael Wrigley 17-21, 21-18, 21-11. Wrigley wrapped up a full house with further successes against Peter Holroyd and Allan Miles-Turner that put his team in the driving seat, but back came the visitors with wins for Miles-Turner against Lawson and a superb doubles triumph for Miles-Turner and Worger 19-21, 21-16, 21-19 against Ayrton and Wrigley to leave the final score 6-4 in favour of the Lancastrians.

In Division Two, The Bhoys, deprived of the services of Mark Deacon were no match for visitors Embassy 'B'. A 10-0 victory included a faultless display from David Kitson, a 17-21, 21-16, 21-16 win for Derek Briggs over John McPherson and an excellent 17-21, 21-18, 21-18 success for George Fletcher against Ryan Foulds.

Relegated Johnson & Johnson took on Terriers 'B' at home and stacked up a good 7-3 win with the usual superb performance from the ever reliable John Pullen that included a 21-19, 21-15 win over Paul Lister, a couple from Vince Ferren and a 21-19, 21-12 defeat of Ronnie Farrar by debutante Tony Bugeja.

Third Division Champions Oakbank 'A' knew that life would be tougher this season following promotion and yet were only denied victory at home to Terriers 'C' by a last gasp 10-21, 21-19, 21-15 doubles win by Mark Emmott and Tom Lacey against Nick Clegg and Gareth Wiles. Terriers, who have strengthened their squad with the addition of Emmott and Lacey following their own promotion, played well but none could match Wiles who powered to a full house, along the way defeating Mark Emmott 21-12, 21-16.

The big victories this week in the Third Division may well indicate that a gap will develop between teams in the top half and those lower down. Ilkley Road 'C' racked up a cricket score at home to Old Skiptonians. Russell Findley did his best before succumbing to Mark Waterhouse 14-21, 21-16, 21-12 in the first, but it was downhill from then on for the visitors thanks to powerful performances from Chris Gill and father and son Mark and Graeme Waterhouse.

Lothersdale 'C's only success at home to Ilkley Road 'B' came with a Chris Hazel 21-17, 21-15 defeat of Rob McLean, but following this there was no looking back for the Riddlesden team, although Tom Fawcett made Karl McIntyre fight hard for a deserved 17-21, 21-15, 21-17 win.

A heartbreaking 17-21, 21-19, 23-21 defeat for St Wilf's John Mitchell against Oakbank 'B's Ross Roberts in the first seems to have knocked all the stuffing out of the Gilstead team as they clattered to a calamitous whitewash against the League's youngest team who also had Rorie Roberts and Alex Pue on top form.

The Broadbent family of dad Dave and sons Adam and Luke playing for Wilsden were equally effective with a resounding triumph at home to St. Peter's. The Addingham team were no match for Wilsden who, even at this early stage in the season, must be a strong tip for the Championship.
