The wild weather of the past week has put back the opening date for Bradford City's new North West corner stand.

The section between the Sunwin and Carlsberg stands was due to open at City's next home match against Everton next Saturday.

But it will not be ready for use until the match against Coventry on December 2.

Managing director Shaun Harvey said: "High winds and the rain have prevented the men from working on the roofs and putting a lot of the steel work in.

"It is just one of the perils of trying to do building work at this time of the year.

"The roof was due to be installed in the early part of last week, but the weather has held up progress. We hope it will go on on Monday.

"We will be making an announcement about ticket arrangements for that part of the ground nearer to the Coventry match."

The corner stand will hold just under 2,300 spectators which will take the capacity of Valley Parade beyond the 20,000 mark, the highest for nearly 30 years.

Work on removing the building where ticket and administrative offices and the reception have been housed for the last four years will start on Monday.

The building is on the car park behind the Sunwin Stand. Once it is removed, the main foundation work for the stand extension will begin. The whole project is costing £7.5million.

When the work is complete in February, Valley Parade will hold 25,000 people.
