THE Rotary Club of Otley has presented a new marching snare drum to Prince Henry's Grammar School band, who will be heading the Otley Armistice Day Memorial Day Parade on Sunday for the second time.

The presentation was made after the club heard the band, who headed the parade for the first time last year, had needed to borrow a drum in order to take part.

A two minutes silence will take place in the Otley Remembrance Garden, Bondgate, on Saturday. Representatives from Otley Town Council will attend the silence from 11am in respect of all those who died in war.

Remembrance Day events across Otley and Wharfedale on Sunday are:

Otley: On Sunday a parade led by the Mayor of Otley, Councillor Christine Campbell, will set off from Manor Square at 2pm to the remembrance service taken by The Reverend Alistair Newton at the Methodist Church, Boroughgate at 2.30pm. There will be a wreath laying ceremony at the Memorial Gardens, Bondgate.

Guiseley: The Reverend Graham Atherton, rector of Guiseley with Esholt, will take a service at Guiseley Parish Church from 10.30am. The Guiseley branch of the Royal British Legion and other organisations will meet at the guide headquarters, The Green, Guiseley at 10am. After the service there will be a wreath laying ceremony at the Cross, Towngate at around 11.15am.

Rawdon: The Reverend Chris Morris will conduct a service of remembrance in the Rawdon Garden of Remembrance - at the junction of Micklefield Road and Leeds Road - at 10.55am. this will include a two minutes silence, the reading of the fallen and a wreath laying ceremony. The Remembrance Sunday service at the parish church will start at 9.30am.

Yeadon: A service will be held at Yeadon Methodist Church from 10.30am. At 11.30am a short wreath laying ceremony will take place at the Memorial windows in front of Yeadon Town Hall.

Bramhope: A remembrance service will take place at 10.50am at the cenotaph in Eastgate - opposite the Methodist Chapel.

Pool-in-Wharfedale: 9.30am St Wilfrids,

combined with the Methodist Church; 11.15am: St Peter's Arthington.
