Business failures in Yorkshire rose by 140 per cent in October signalling a worrying trend, according to a professional services firm.
Figures by Deloitte and Touche show the region saw 19 receivership and administration appointments last month, compared with eight in September.
Nationally, the number of receiverships rose from 100 in September to 144 in October.
Angus Martin, from Deloitte and Touche, said: "For the past few years the total for October has been higher than for September but these figures are worrying.
"The overall trend for this year is up and there have been 183 business failures to date in the region compared to 139 for last year.''
