POLICE are urging residents to keep an eye on their garden
furniture after a spate of recent thefts.
Overnight between last Monday and Tuesday, thieves made off with a heavy stone sun dial worth £800 from the back garden of a house on Eaton Road, Ilkley.
Also on Tuesday, between 8am and 1pm, one of a pair of stone troughs, worth £100, was taken from the front garden of a house on Panorama Drive.
Last Wednesday, another stone trough - worth £50 - was pinched from the front garden of a house on Bingley Road in Menston.
And a heavy antique bench worth £1000 was stolen from outside the Hermit pub in Menston on Thursday night.
A spokesman for Ilkley Police said: "There is an increasing number of incidents involving thefts from gardens of garden ornaments - including flagstones - and furniture.
"Reports have been made of a yellow pick up truck being
sighted. Could residents please be alert and contact West Yorkshire Police incident room on 0845 6060606 or 999 if appropriate."
