The amateur soccer programme has again been washed away by the wet weather.

Bradford, Leeds, Calderdale and Kirklees councils have all called off matches on their pitches for the second successive week.

Now football leagues are facing a massive backlog of games. The West Riding County Cup competitions, due to have been played last week, have been called off again.

With the Bradford District FA Cup competitions taking precedence next weekend it will be November 25 before the ties can be re-scheduled.

West Riding County Amateur League Press Officer Philip Rhodes said: "It is a real crisis now. We are falling well behind with our league matches.

"W had planned to have only a few games over the Christmas holiday but now we will have full programmes on December 23 and 30."

Bradford Council recreation officer David Talbot said: "The situation is still very bad. The pitches are extremely wet and with a poor forecast we were left with little option but to call them all off again."

One council-owned ground where it is hoped two games can go ahead this weekend is Horsfall Stadium.

As the ground is leased by Bradford Park Avenue they are being given responsibility for deciding if their UniBond Division One match against Kendal Town and the FA Sunday Cup second round tie between Albion Sports and Seymour can be played.

Avenue are anxious to put their promotion challenge back on the rails and would desperately like to record a win after bowing out of the FA Trophy at Gainsborough Trinity last week.

After suffering the frustration of having their FA Trophy clash at Trafford postponed twice, Farsley Celtic hope for better luck when they return to league action against Vauxhall Motors at Throstle Nest.

Guiseley's new boss Neil Parsley will be looking for his side to build on their convincing 4-1 FA Trophy win over Eastwood Town when they visit Winsford.

Their league form has been poor recently and Parsley knows that an improvement is needed if they are to haul themselves up the table.

Eccleshill United enjoyed great success in the FA Vase last season as they reached the last 16 for the first time in their history.

Tomorrow they set out in this season's competition with a home game against Newcastle Benfield Saints.

Thackley hope to maintain their good form when they visit Harrogate Railway in the Northern Counties East Premier Division, while Liversedge are at home to Garforth Town.
