Keighley rail passengers are set to benefit from a host of station improvements, according to a draft rail management plan.

In the report published by Metro, the West Yorkshire rail authority, rail bosses have set out proposals for the regions rail network for the next 20 years.

The document, entitled RailPlan 5, divides the plans in short term measures, to be implemented in the next five years, and medium term, to be implemented between 2006 and 2020, and long-term measures.

Keighley, Steeton and Silsden, and Crossflatts stations are all set for improvements both short and medium term.

In the next five years all three stations are set to have centrally monitored CCTV cameras with help and information facilities as well as a park and ride systems.

Crossflatts station is due to get its own ticket office and, along with Keighley Station, an improved passenger information system. Better shelters are also planned for Crossflatts.

Passengers at Steeton and Silsden are to benefit from an improved bus service to the station in the next five years and better passenger shelters after that time.

Other projects forecast for the coming five years include further electrification of the Leeds to Skipton line to allow an improved Inter-City service from Shipley to Skipton. Rail bosses also plan a 15-minute peak time service from Keighley to Leeds.
