Joseph Thorpe was so concerned when the Queen Mother injured herself that he wrote to ask how she was.

The seven-year-old Haworth boy was delighted to receive a reply this week from the Queen Mother's home in London.

The letter, from a lady-on-waiting, thanks Haworth Primary School pupil Joseph for his consideration.

Joseph wrote last week after hearing that the Queen Mother had banged her head on her limousine after tripping on her evening gown.

Four days later, on Friday, the 100-year-old royal broke her collar bone in a fall at her home in Clarence House.

Frances Campbell-Preston, the lady-in-waiting, wrote to Joseph on Monday to say that the Queen Mother was "reasonably comfortable".

The letter added: "The Queen Mother appreciates your very kind thoughts of her at this time."

Joseph's took his letter to school where it was shown to other pupils. His father has now framed the letter and envelope, which bears a special royal postmark.
