A Keighley couple, who have tied the marital knot three times - to each other - are celebrating their golden wedding today.

And joining Donald and Florence Drake on their special day, will be their 31-year-old daughter, Lindsay, who is marrying her partner, Nigel Bridge.

Within ten years of their marriage at the Anglican church of St John in Keighley, in 1950, Florence and Donald had gone through another two ceremonies.

When they wanted to send one of their sons to a Catholic school, they had to have their marriage blessed in St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keighley.

And when Florence, 71, lost her wedding ring in 1960, they bought a replacement and had a special ceremony to bless it in their home in Broomhill Mount, Keighley, where they still live and where Donald has lived since he was a toddler.

Donald, a spritely 76 year-old, said: "It isn't often you get married to the same woman three times."

Florence said: "He must think something of me, I suppose."

The couple, who have four children, think it's a great idea celebrating their golden wedding and their daughter's wedding at the same time.

"We're having an open house at each other's houses. We live only a couple of doors away from each other," said Donald, who worked in the building trade before retirement.

His daughter Lindsay, 31, an outreach worker, and Nigel have a four year-old son, Nathan and nine year-old daughter Christie..

Nigel said: "Donald said why not have the ceremonies on both days.

"Lindsay wanted it to be her parent's special day but they were keen to share it and we were very happy about it."

And the secret of Florence and Donald's long and happy marriage? "Just saying 'right love, OK'" joked Donald, who was a soldier in the Second World War serving in Java and Singapore.

Florence added: "We've always been able to laugh and I think that's the main thing."
