The Bees again left the ground of their bogey side pointless despite taking a 7-0 lead after only a minute's play.

From the kick-off Driffield were immediately robbed of the ball and a swift and direct move found centre John Rimmington on hand to score under the posts, Steve Brimacombe converting.

A further Brimacombe penalty put the Bees ten points clear after six minutes, but the home side were beginning to play - Phil Jones successfully landing a penalty and raids came from either wing.

After 26 minutes a move found scrum half Danny Laybourne supporting and he slipped through for a try which Jones converted to bring the scores level.

Driffield were then fortunate to survive without conceding further points until a Brimacombe penalty eased the Bees back into the lead. As half-time approached the home side were defending desperately, the Bees wasting their best position by conceding a penalty.

After an even first five minutes of the second half Driffield's forwards began to put a stranglehold on the game and penned the Bees in their own half for long periods.

The home side's pressure was rewarded after 63 minutes when the Bees' cover was drawn into the right corner and a quick ball across the three-quarters gave winger Richard Anderson the space to out-flank the defence and race in for a try and a lead for the home team.

With the slight slope and diagonal wind in their favour Driffield were not about to throw their lead away and only wasted line-out ball from the home side gave the Bees the opportunity to drive the ball away from their line.

The final couple of minutes of Bees' pressure was too little too late, but they did miss the chance of snatching a win when they conceded yet another penalty with the line beckoning.
