An It's a Knockout competition with a difference was held at Nab Wood Sports Centre, Cottingley. All those taking part were archers. Ten teams of eight tested their bow and arrow skills. They came from across Yorkshire and the West Midlands. Traditional television Knockout games were adapted for the archers and balloons figured prominently. Bradford's Bronte Archers 'A' team were the winners by two points.

About 70 vehicles were involved in a lunch-time Bradford traffic jam which stretched from the top of Manor Row, down Cheapside to Forster Square. Drivers complained that Vicar Lane traffic lights in Leeds Road were being affected by power cuts, and there was a two-minute time lag. Apperley Bridge buses, which usually came down Cheapside, were driven down Westgate to avoid the congestion. Icy conditions also produced a crop of road hold-ups in Bradford.
